Sevenoaks Town will travel to Eden Park Avenue in a fortnight's time still very much in this Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division League Cup semi-final against Beckenham Town. However they survived a strong second half display by the visitors at Greatness Park on Tuesday night after Gary Gorman had put them level for the second time on the night six minutes into the second half. Billy Shinners fired Sevenoaks in front with his 17th goal of the season after five minutes, scoring from close-range to convert Chris Walker's low ball into the box. However Beckenham were level 10 minutes later when Danny Lawson fell in the box in a challenge with Michael Cook and referee Martin Lehane deemed it a penalty. Anthony Weir stepped up to beat Sean Funnell from the spot. The game turned Town's way again after 26 minutes in two incidents involving Beckenham goalkeeper Nicky Blue. First he picked up a booking for clipping Joe Creasey's heels just outside the area, The resultant free kick caught Blue in two minds inside his six-yard box, pushing the ball towards his own line, with assistant referee Nick Goodhew signalling the ball had gone in, sparking off angry Beckenham protests. However Blue played a key part in Beckenham's second, the same route one approach adopted when they won 4-1 in the league at Greatness Park last month. His long kick downfield caught the Town defenders on the back foot and Gorman bustled his way through to score in the far corner. Sean Funnell saved twice from the former Orpington striker, who saw another effort deflected for a corner. Weir also saw another effort go wide and skipper Nick Curran's free-kick went wide of the target Town's best effort in the second half came when Shinners stabbed wide under pressure from Blue. Danny Ward picked up his 10th booking - with Shinners also cautioned after a spat with James Holder in the penalty area, as they waited for a corner. Sevenoaks Town: Sean Funnell, Toby Webb, Ossie Bayram, Danny Twin, Michael Cook, Chris Walker, Kyrone Josephs, Danny Ward, Jamie Johnston, Joe Creasey (Daniel Akpoveta 89 mins), Billy Shinners. Toby Webb is set to return to the side after completing a three-match ban as Sevenoaks Town face Beckenham Town in the the League Cup semi-final first-leg at Greatness Park on Tuesday night. Three players are ruled out due to being cup tied, meaning there will be changes as Town aim to continue their good run against a Beckenham side who won 4-1 in the league last month, when striker Anthony Weir hit a 15 minute second-half-hat-trick. Skipper Danny Ward is available to face his former club, but is one caution away from a two-match ban after nine bookings so far this season. The second leg takes place at Eden Park Avenue in a fortnight, while Herne Bay and Faversham Town meet in the first leg of the other semi-final on Wednesday night.
